I haven’t felt like drawing much recently and I find it a little disturbing that I look at this list and think “That all sounds like lots of fun to draw!”

[Tali with brown-green skin, braid like dark head tentacles that flow around ridge like ears, glowing white eyes, and pointy teeth. The male quarian (can’t make out his name) has less tentacles so they look less hair like. In one picture Tali is rubbing against the beard of a human man (presumably Shepard) saying “Ahaha fuzzy”]
OK so k4ll0’s awesome tali model (and maybe a little ‘talizora actual cannibal’ incident) made me wanna draw up some quarians and do the whole design rationale thing too lol. I drew a tali design a long time ago so it’s still based a little on that.
k4ll0 had a really good point in that quarians probably don’t have hair or sweat, being from a very hot desert planet. I did add in some vent type holes or whatever, in some natural fossils of the body, and the little tendril things on top could also help vent heat if they had the right kinna blood vessels in them. I like to think they used to get pretty long (everyone knows head tentacles are hot, even protheans) but since they started suit life they started tying them together and docking them so they never really go any farther than the bottom of their neck.
I do like bald quarian designs but I had always seen them as having some kind of stuff up top, mainly because 1. their suits include hoods, which.. i dunno I thought it might have been for holding hair-type stuff, or just to mimic having it, otherwise why have that at all? and 2. give them more resemblance to the mechanical aspects of the geth like wiring, a long with the hooded-arch appearance. Same reason their ears would effectively be molded into their heads, just creating more arched lines (and reverse-engineering from the fact that their suits don’t look like they have ear room like k4ll0 said). And their skin would be kinna rough on their backs AND they would have big cute eyelashes like camels do because: desert. And uh they have pointyish noses rather than flat noses just because eh I mean you can see in the mask enough to tell they do.
TEETH ok so Rannoch dosen’t have insects right? So they probably don’t have small animals that eat insects or plants that like.. only reproduce through fruits and stuff because there’s no pollenation?? So like.. I guess I picture the planet only having largeish animals, and large tough desert plants. I know in their suits quarians only eat paste or whatever but they’ve only been in suits for like 300 years, not nearly long enough to really evolve anything different as far as bones goes. So on the planet they would have to have evolved teeth for ripping and shredding and chewing really tough plants and animals (there’s no way a species shaped like they are on a DESERT planet ate mostly plants). Plus I think big pointy teeth are rly cute and you can justify basically anything with ‘sexual selection’ HEH
Also my rational behind the horrible in game picture is Tali bad facebook style shooped it and Shepard was just like “tali.. i’ve seen your face, this dosen’t look anything like you.. did you photoshop this” and she’s like UHH

WELP
Wow, this manages to be plausible, alien looking, and hot. Ok, new head canon :D

[Speech bubble containing: Stop dehumanizing and rejecting disabled bodies]
Wow, this is unnecessarily harsh. I rarely feel dehumanized and rejected. I’m uncomfortable with this generalization.
Unnecessarily harsh?
Are you fucking kidding me?
The dehumanization of disabled people has been going on since…always. Disabled people that are visibly disabled encounter negative stereotypes and social attitudes that dehumanize, patronize, and objectify them because of their bodies. Disabled people of color face this on top of the social attitudes they face for being people of color; trans disabled people face this on top of the social attitudes they face for being trans; the list goes on. But you think it’s ok to dismiss the experiences of all these people just because you lack personal experience with this kind of treatment?
You should be uncomfortable with this, because most disabled people are uncomfortable with being treated this way.
R U KIDDING ME
Did you know what I woke up to on Facebook this morning?????
THIS PICTURE tagged “weird world”, and captioned “if this kid can smile so can you”
[little kid with prosthetic legs smiling next to all his old prosthetics from when he was smaller]
Because it’s soooo tragic right? Dehumanizing a SMALL CHILD so the abled can feel better about their shitty day. THANKS but NOT HARSH ENOUGH.
[Gilmore Girls gif of someone being pushed into a lake]
On the one hand, I definitely agree that disabled bodies are dehumanised and rejected. But I am increasingly irritated by advocacy for “all” disabled people that makes absolutely no effort to be accessible. I realise not everyone can tag moving images or give image descriptions on EVERY post (I forget sometimes myself), but it seems like a bare minimum for anything intended to speak on behalf of those with visual impairments.

I hate when people are like “only dogs can give you love and affection, cats are cold and elusive” like okay dog person if you had ever actually owned a cat you would know they are the neediest fucking creatures on the planet
cats will literally sit on your head until you pay attention to them
I would have reblogged this earlier, but I had to stop my cat sitting on my keyboard in an attempt to demand pats.

Give me a topic in my ask and I will record myself talking about it -
I might do a video or like animate it with finger puppets, depending on how bored I am.

(via The artwork of H.R. Giger, recreated in LEGO bricks)
The wildly complicated gunmetal-tone Giger sculpture interpretations are not to be missed. However, the following conversation references the picture above, which is a beige-colored baby xenomorph, tail curled around its neck, emerging from a chestbursty square of blood, with a little pool trickling over the side. MADE OF LEGOS.
@therejectionist: WHAT RT @cleolinda: o_O RT @io9: The artwork of H.R. Giger, recreated in LEGO bricks
@cleolinda: Where do you even GET Lego bricks shaped like a pool of blood?
@therejectionist: from Cthulhu, OBVIOUSLY
@cleolinda: ~;;;~
@cleolinda: Don’t think I didn’t sit there and try to think of an emoticon to represent Lego blocks.
The one I found won’t work on Twitter. : (

(I was asked to make this one rebloggable)
Not a weird question at all! Here’s a quick rundown of the prominent ones (ie; characters with arcs and even series of their own) I am aware of!
The Old DCU
Batwoman and Renee Montoya had fairly frequent story lines together as ~tempestuous~ ex-lovers during the post-Infinite Crisis period. They most notably featured in the latter half of 52 and back-up stories in Detective Comics during the time Batman was “dead”.
Obsidian (Todd James Rice) is a JSA oldie, although he didn’t come “out” until mid-90’s Justice League during the really, really awkward post-Giffen/DeMatties era. There does, however, happen to be a quality series that co-stars him (and gives him a romance even!) - the 2004 Manhunter on-going. It’s only #25 issues and quite a good book (with a strong female lead) regardless.
Gail Simone’s Secret Six had both an on-going relationship between female team-mates Scandal Savage and Knockout and the revelation that Catman was bisexual (although I don’t think that was ever explored in the text iirc B[). (psst, Secret Six was also a great book!)
Holly Robinson is a recurring Catwoman regular who even served a stint in the Catsuit herself after Selina gave birth. She gets a lot of screentime in Catwoman Vol. 3 (which began in 2002 with Ed Brubaker’s excellent run) and even gets to be in a long-term relationship.
Piper is great too! He’s a reformed member of the Flash’s Rogue Gallery (know simply as ‘The Rogues’ because they are simply the best Rogue Gallery around) and close friend of Wally West. He appears fairly frequently throughout Flash Vol. 3 (otherwise known as “The really long run starring Wally West and written mostly by Mark Waid and Geoff Johns”).
Grace Choi and Thunder from Outsiders and later Birds of Prey are another long-term female superhero couple. As is the sad case with many C, D, E and F-listers, they tend to be all over the place in continuity (and, unfortunately, one of Grace’s more important recent appearances was in the horrendous Amazons Attack! crossover. auuugh), but I’ve always been a big fan of Grace and would say she’s worth tracking down. (thank you snazzysnafu)
Monsieur Mallah and The Brain. Okay, so they’re a talking Gorilla and a brain in a jar. But they are also in love. I feel like I should be down on these two because their relationship can probably be read as a fairly juvenile “ha ha gay” joke but… I just cannot. A brain in a jar and a Hyper-Intelligent Gorilla in love is basically the stuff I read comics for.
(yeah, I’m reaching here. DC is…… not great at this…..)
The New DCU
Batwoman has her own book now and it’s really good.
Apparently the Alan Scott (the other other Green Lantern) of Earth 2 (the DCnU’s JSA book) has been re-imagined as a gay man. Or will be. Or might be. It’s an interesting choice since his son in the OLD DCU is Obsidian, who does not exist in the new canon. I am still forming opinions on this.
The new Teen Titans book apparently has a new gay character as well, called Bunker. I don’t know anything about him, but here’s his ComicVine page. He’s featured in the TT run currently on the shelves. (thanks again to snazzysnafu !)
The new Birds of Prey has a bisexual character named Starling, who I have been told is delightful! (thank you, romanadvoratrelundar )
Marvel
One guarantee in Marvel is that ALL of the “New Generation” team books have queer characters:
Runaways had Karolina and Xavin (who actually had some gender issues between them that I am way too cis to comment on re: how well or badly handled it was. I really enjoyed them (a lot) but personally always felt there was something a little off. I can elaborate if you want, but I just want to give a fair warning that there could be problematic issues relating to gender identity and policing in their arc).
Young Avengers (and subsequently Avengers: Children’s Crusade), of course, has Wiccan and Hulkling who I think might be Marvel’s highest profile gay romance.
Avengers Academy has both a bisexual and gay character, although I don’t want to say who since they both have coming out arcs and I sort of feel like this is a spoiler? Avengers Academy is worth your time anyway.
The New X-Men has Anole, although I admit I have never read this book and basically know nothing about him. I am so out of the X-Book loop these days. ~(-_-)~
Aside from the “kid” books, there is also:
The current run (written by Marjorie Liu) of Astonishing X-Men, which has given a load of character development to Northstar, Marvel’s first openly gay character. He’s actually getting married in the June issue!
Speaking of Ms Liu, she also did a run on Dark Wolverine which just happened to star Wolverine’s bisexual son, Daken (who was also on Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers team during the year leading up to Siege). There’s some debate as to whether or not Daken fits the offensive “depraved bisexual” trope, but the comic fandom seems pretty split. I think it’s a YMMV thing. I mean, his entire character type is really a YMMV thing.
The current run of X-Factor has Shatterstar and Rictor, who are perhaps the first example of a popular ~subtexty~ slash pairing becoming canon. I guess this also makes all of their interaction in the 90’s X-Force canonical romantic tension as well, but 90’s X-Force is kind of… really 90’s. Even the good parts of it. So… just read X-Factor. Shatterstar doesn’t join the team until Issue #45, but I seriously recommend the entire run. It’s one of the only comics I spend money on right now.
In the Ultimate X-Men comics, Colossus was gay, involved with Northstar and a relatively prominent character. I haven’t read Ult. X-Men in years and years and years, though, so I have no idea what’s going on there these days. Still, the early Ult. comics are pretty good!
Also, it’s no big secret these days that Mystique and Destiny were always meant to be in big gay love with each other (apparently Nightcrawler’s original origin was meant to be Raven transforming into a male and impregnating Destiny??? this is way better than what actually turned out to be true), so you are also free to go back and read all their 1980’s appearances as legitimately queer instead of just intriguing subtext.
AND DON’T FORGET
Midnighter and Apollo of The Authority: everyone’s favourite hyper-violent Batman and Superman expys. Beating up crooks. Gettin’ married. Raising a daughter together. The Authority was originally owned by WildStorm comics, but the imprint was bought by DC a few years ago. You’re going to want to look for the original run because things got weird when WS was bought out (and a bit before, but no comic is perfect). Trigger Warnings all over the place for this one. The Authority is a troubling book sometimes.
I know there are lots more out there, but I think I’m covering all the high profile bases! I hope this guide helps you find at least one character or couple you can get interested in!
Also, to my followers: if I’m missing anyone really obvious, please tell me.
