How to tell if a character is a Disney villain

Are they wearing red and/or purple? Yes: Villain. No: not a villain.

[Images of every Disney villain ever, all in purple and red]

it seems i have another follower! it warms my cold, bitter heart to know that someone, somewhere, finds value in my thoughts and feelings. i will visit their tumblr in turn, to see what kind of person has temporarily sated my near-compulsive need for approval. maybe— maybe they will be my friend— oh, i am so excited—

22/7

Such approximations made in a day
Deemed necessary to light our way
What details lost to what they’ve spurned
How many Lessons lost in what we’ve learned

(Thanks for humoring me - though, in lieu of recent study, I’m starting to like tau for such purposes.)

Oh, I like tau as well, but 22/7 has a certain nostalgic charm :) I thought about doing the “ask me a number” thing myself but decided noone would respond (of course, noone responded to the less nerdy meme either, so maybe I should have just run with it)

Hmmph, it won’t let me edit the html.

Reblog if you're willing to answer anything that comes to your ask box right now.

It is cold and rainy and I am bored :)

I am afraid to post actual opinions to tumblr.

Reblogging is one thing. Trying to correct bad assumptions. But, if I posted it…

As sombody would read it, and, misunderstanding the conclusion I’ve come to, would agree - but they wouldn’t be agreeing, because they don’t actually understand the opinion.

I could stand disagreement, if respectful. If responding to my points. So long as they actually understand what the opinion is.

So

No opinions.

This is why I prefer livejournal/dreamwidth for expressing complex opinions, you can have a conversation and if necessary edit your post (also, friendslock is good for restricting your audience to those who know your personal context). With Tumblr the only way for people to respond is private messages or reblogging for their whole dashboard to see, at which point it can get reblogged and reblogged and you have no control over it any more, and any conversations that do develop quickly become unwieldy. (Note to people who only read me on Tumblr: yes, this is me being relatively unopinionated :D)

See also: why I tend not to say anything when people I follow say things I find problematic.

anthologyofwhat:

This blog chronicles attempts at phishing (conning people out of their passwords) on Tumblr. I found it when I got a follower that redirected to the recent “adult content” scam. I posted about the previous one here, but it’s spreading, which means it’s important to be alert.

So many of these damn things lately!

Nature comic

codalion:

I have mixed feelings on this thing. I appreciate the basic sentiment being expressed, for the sense of geological and ecological perspective — similarly, Europe somehow exists despite the Black Death’s best efforts, it’s even difficult to wipe out human populations. However, 1. the personification of Nature as a monolith, and a terrifying and indestructible monolith akin to a god no less, sort of minimizes the destruction wreaked upon countless individual species and habitats — the End-Permian Extinction may have occurred, but that’s no reason to emulate the thing purposely; 2. things that refer casually and flippantly to the destruction of humanity are often created by and for the rich Westerners who are largely responsible for the problem, not with any sensitivity to the people in developing nations who would likely be the first to suffer and die in a global ecological crisis.

Basically: it’s all well and good for rich Anglophones to joke about the impermanence and hubris of Homo sapiens and the coming end of humanity, but it’s much more glib when you know you’re going to be the last ones to lose food and water, and if any 1% sliver survives it’s probably going to be you.

I wasn’t reading the comic that way but now that you point it out the subtext is kind of skeevy. This is what I get for posting late at night…

“20. While we recognise the Aboriginal people as the first people of Australia, we encourage them to accept our Government’s apology and invite them to issue a statement of thanks for the good that the British heritage has brought to our nation.” —

Welcome to Rise Up Australia Party – Keep Australia Australian!

I am disgusted and horrified and… I just have no words.

(via mjec)

AHHHHHHHHHH DDDDD: NO WORDS CAN EXPRESS THE FAIL

(via -frabjousday)

FUCK. YOU.

(via jhameia)

UM HOW ABOUT A BIG FUCKING NO? “MODERN PLUMBING” IS NOT WORTH PEOPLE’S FREEDOM.

(via jaded16india)

I love you jaded.

(via leonineantiheroine)

WHAT FRESH BULLSHIT IS THIS?!?!?!?! NO! JUST NO!

(via liquornspice)

I hope the only statement that comes from the Leaders of the Aboriginal people says “FUCK YOU AND FUCK OFF”

That would be nice.

(via sun-in-my-mouth)

What even?! This ain’t even right. Wow, just wow.

(via comingonstrong)

This is all kinds of fucked up.

(via igotlike30bitchez)

Yup, Aboriginal Australians should be happy with its lower education stats, stolen generations, and all other racist fuckery and treatment the Brits brought over. Folks just need to be more gracious and thankful. Their quality of living has tots improved with white people in power!

(via wayofthewasp)

AHHHHHH AHJSJAHSGJHAGS D: D:

I had a look at their website and I just…ARGH. Yes, Australia must be protected from the Muslim Atheist Green Conspiracy and returned to what it’s founders intended when they stole it from the Indigenous inhabitants to create a prison colony.

(Also I’m disturbed that I found out about this party on Tumblr. Maybe I already knew about it and blocked it out)

This is worth your time. See how you do and send it on….

This test is not an easy one. The website reports that college educators average about 55%. The average citizen averages about 49%.

I got 20 out of 33 right

You answered 19 out of 33 correctly — 57.58 %

Holy shit! 8D

You answered 12 out of 33 correctly — 36.36 %

hahaha, that test was ridiculous.

You answered 21 out of 33 correctly — 63.64 %

Not too bad, better than I expected I mean XD

You answered 27 out of 33 correctly — 81.82 %

Hehehehehe

You answered 28 out of 33 correctly — 84.85 %

AW YEAH HIGH SCORE

You answered 24 out of 33 correctly — 72.73 %

Man, I thought I’d do a lot worse.

You answered 28 out of 33 correctly — 84.85 %

…I forgot my accounting class.

66.7%, not bad for an Aussie whose main knowledge of pre 20th century US history comes from children’s cartoons and science fiction. I did guess a bunch though.

It was an interesting look into what’s considered important civic knowledge in the US. Several questions boil down to “Why is capitalism so awesome?” or the specific wording of things said by some white guy over a hundred years ago etc, but I don’t remember a single question involving Native Americans.

*googles for an Australian version* Haha, ok, this Australian Geography, Civics and Citizenship Test really isn’t the same, but I got 95% on it and it does make an amusing contrast :D

Mona: ASK BOX RESTRICTIONS: → awyeahmona.tumblr.com

theemeraldarcher:

ok me and tumblr user nightving have figured it out.

your asks (this doesn’t apply to replies) cannot have more than 3 periods PER PARAGRAPH.

so as long as you put a line break by hitting enter somewhere between your third and fourth period, it will go through.

so, for…

Ok, I did some experimenting, and the following messages got through from here to alias-sqbr:

 • lot. of. full. stops. in. one. paragraph. with. spaces.
 • Four….ellipses!!!
 • Lots…of…ellipses!
 • sorta.url
This got a “Questions cannot contain links” error: sorta.like.url
