It’s possible everyone else already knew this, but I spent ages looking through the themes trying to figure out how to get my tag list to show.
“Today is a good today I think to talk about robots!”
Like my username and tagline, this is a reference to my favorite webcomic, Dinosaur Comics. I thought it was appropriate because… I like robots?

The Tumblr of the Purple Chicken
Based on a running joke from highschool I don’t even remember any more. Mainly I hate coming up with names and choose whatever stupid thing pops into my head.
Kanaya had the theme of virginity due to her sign, which when you think about it, is a pretty TOUGH CONCEPT to shape into coherence for a character in an ensemble like this, but I worked it by bonding her to matriarchal themes with her virgin mother grub lusus, and the role she…
Not liking how this ties into her being a lesbian, either. (Not that she would be having sex with boys regardless, what with her self defeating taste in partners and SIX SOLAR SWEEPS, but it still taps into the “lesbians as maidens” trope)
That said, I have had serious trouble imagining us actually seeing either species being repopulated, it would create either babies or adult clones, both of which would derail the story dramatically. Maybe I should have realised that once the matriorb hatching process started it was pretty much doomed :/ At least we didn’t get attached to the new baby mother grub first, I guess?
A few points:
* “Black is bad white is good” is a standard concept among white people in a white-dominated society. It isn’t the rule for all of history. It certainly isn’t the rule in chess, which is what the black/white dichotomy in the game is based on.
* The idea of Tavros’ entire life being “the story of a douche abusing a disabled guy” upsets me, particularly because Tavros was introduced first and had much more screentime, he was a central character, then Vriska his abuser showed up and took over. Yeah that bothers me! Of course that bothers me! I think she’s a great villainess and I love her role in the story but I don’t love that his story was subsumed entirely in hers, that’s the trope I’m bothered by!
* The entire goddamn story doesn’t have 16 central characters, it has an enormous number. Besides the humans and the trolls, we have all the carapaces, who certainly do feel sexual/romantic desire b/c we have AR trying to woo PM.
I’m not going into the LOL WELL TROLLS DON’T HAVE HUMAN SEXUALITY THING here, I’ve proved this with numbers before and people have then followed it up with “lol you’re reading too much into these numerical facts” so it’s really obviously not worth it.
I’ve been scrolling back through this (heavily snipped) conversation and am in total agreement with what everyone (well, everyone I follow :)) is saying. The things that piss me off about Homestuck are so similar to yours that for a second I thought the person you’re responding to here was referring to the angry post I made about it a while ago. (Note that this was posted before Tavros died)
Though to be honest part of me is enjoying that it feels like other people are finally as angry at the comic as I have been (off and on) for months, partly because I feel more able to shake my angry little disabled fist in public without so much worry about being mobbed by angry fans.
Also (just since I think it needs explicitly saying): If Tavros really DID just exist as “the disabled guy Vriska picks on” that would still not be ok!
